The Athens State Orchestra Woodwind Quintet, with the assistance of the Athens State Orchestra’s Leading Drummer Dimitris Desyllas and the participation of the charismatic singers Vasia Zacharopoulou and Spyros Kliissas, invites the audience to immerse themselves in the magic of film music.
An evening dedicated to the big screen, with the immortal melodies of leading composers who have left their mark on the history of cinema. Nino Rota takes us on a journey from “Dolce Vita” and “Amarcord” to “The Godfather” and the romance of “Romeo and Juliet”. Ennio Morricone moves with “Cinema Paradiso”, “The Mission” and the legendary western themes. Leonard Bernstein sets the pace with “West Side Story,” while Niccolò Piovani celebrates optimism with “Life is Beautiful.” Finally, Mikis Theodorakis connects Greece and international cinema with “Phaedra” and “Luna de miel.”

Commemorative events of the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Leros (1943 – 2023)
As the memory fades and people who fought in WW2 pass away, commemorations are the only way to keep the message alive and topical; NEVER WAR AGAIN!
From the 24th until the 30th of September 2023, Greeks, British, Italians and Germans will gather on Leros, to pay their respects at the place their ancestors fought and suffered in 1943, to share memory and knowledge and to highlight the ultimate value of peace, commemorating the 80th anniversary of Battle of Leros (26th September – 16th November 1943).
The cultural association AIAL (Associazione Italiana Amici di Leros), in cooperation with collector and researcher Nikos Kafentzis, with the support of the Municipality of Leros , is hosting a 5-days series of commemorative events, to honour the memory of the people who fought for Leros.
