We spent a few days in Leros at Tony’s Studios, which were wonderful. The hotel is very modernly decorated ,the rooms remarkable, the prices so good for what you get.If you want to have a relaxing time at Leros island, this is the place to go.
Brilliant value in one of the best locations on Leros
Tony’s is easily the best value hotel I have ever stayed in. At 60 euros/night for three adults it was exceptional value – we would happily have paid more. Even the pool snack/cocktail bar price list was no more than a regular café.
A lovely island and the best value hotel on our 4 island trip of the Dodecanese
Leros is a beautiful hilly island with no package tourists as the runway cannot take large planes. It is easy to get to from other islands in the group as Dodekanisos Seaways run a daily service from Rhodes up through Cos. Nikos, the son of Tony, now mangaes this excellent value, refurbished hotel which was as good as any of the hotels we stayed at on the three other Dodecanese islands we visited in September 2013. The three two storey blocks of the hotel are set in a smart residential area and all the studios have views of the sea and the souerh side of the main town. Breakfasts were good and taken around the pool. Most of the residents were couples and apparently Nikos gets his business by word of mouth; the best recommendation of all. As an extra, we reckon the best restaurant on the island, as featured in Aegean Cuisine, is a short walk up the hill towards town.
Great hospitality, incredible value, grat location
You really couldn’t do better on the island of Leros that to stay at Tony’s Beach Studios. The studios are furnished to a standard rarely seen in Greece, with modern bathroom/power shower, comfortable beds, fitted wardrobes, sitting area, A/C and kitchenette – all of this at 2* prices, for what is easily 4* standards.
In addition, you will find Nikos the perfect host – always on hand to help with anything you need, and to make sure you are comfortable.
The location is also great with all studios having a sea view.
Can’t recommend this place enough!
Great hospitality in a lovely setting
We have just enjoyed 16 nights great hospitality at Tony’s Beach. The accommodation is superb, the setting quite beautiful and the hospitality of Tony and Nikos friendly, helpful, caring and above all unobtrusive. We have enjoyed a most relaxing holiday on a lovely island. Thank you Tony and Nikos for all your kindness. We highly recommend Tony’s Beach and shall visit again in the not too distant future.
Truly amazing value for money; friendly, clean and quiet
We, that’s me and my GF, just came back from a week at Tony’s Beach Hotel. All apartments have been renovated 2 years ago, so they still look very good. Modern interior, plenty of room on the balcony and an AC that is not blowing full frontal cold air to the direction of the bed. At least this was for us the case in the 4 person studio. Nikkos has been a wonderful host all the time and made us feel at home.
Let’s start with making clear that the price-value ratio of Tony’s place can not be beaten. But if you have more money to spend, or other priorities than us, than I have to mention the things that could have been better. The pool and the breakfast. The pool is truly small; kudos to the photographer who made it look this big. It is nice to cool off in clean water, but anything else the nearby sea is better suited for. And the breakfast could have offered more variety; the same stuff each day.
Excellent location, strongly recommended!
The hotel is located Vromolithos beach, which one of the best beaches in Leros. The rooms were clean and very modern designed. ALl rooms look a beatiful sea view. It is a famiy run hotel, Tony and his son Nikos were very friendly and good speaking english. Sea was very clean, rent a car is recommenden in this small island, we will come again!
Hard to beat for the price
We stayed two nights in August in two different rooms as we had booked last minute. While the rooms are simple, they are recently renovated so are clean and modern. The bathrooms in particular have been nicely done and have a good shower (and unlike many hotels of this category, they have a glass window to stop the bathroom being flooded every time you shower!).
The hotel is indeed right on the water, and though the beach directly in front is fine (though a bit narrow and pebbly), a three minute walk over the rocks takes you to a beautiful much wider beach where you can swim with a great view over the castle and windmills. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of one of the small ports where there are some really good tavernas.
Service at the hotel is really excellent – all the staff we encountered were helpful and went out of their way – and that despite the fact that they were nearly full.
Overall I think this hotel delivers much more than its price tag indicates and if I was going back to Leros, would certainly stay again.
Still good after all these years
Perfect small set of apartments owned and run by Tony and his son Nikos. Clean comfortable, air conditioned rooms, pool, bar and direct access onto one of the finest swimming beaches in the eastern Aegean. Bring your snorkel. Try Nikos’ cocktails. We have been coming for 9 years now. Hidden treasure.
Too good to be true
We arrived at Leros literally on the break of dawn…we were really tired all 8 of us (4 couples) but we had the best of surprises at Tony’s Beach Hotel! Not at all what we expected to find for the price we were paying: Very clean, two-room studios, well equipped and marvelously situated, less than 30 steps from the shore!! Even more surprising were the bathrooms, which can find their similar only in big hotels!!
I would go again anytime!
I have been to this hotel for a few days during July 2012 and I have to tell you that it was quite a (pleasant) surprise for me! Each room can easily accomodate a couple with 1-2 kids, the furniture is new, the bathroom is awesome and you will find anything you need for a good vacation (kitchen with fridge, flat television, safe box).
The hotel is situated in a very nice and calm spot! If you go there and compare with many other hotels, you will see how right I am!
We paid 50 euros per night per room, which was quite cheap! Of course, breakfast was not something worth mentioning, but the lady who served it was very nice and friendly, not to mention that she was very beautiful too!
Just be sure that you have confirmed your dates of arrival and departure by fax, before you go there, ok guys
Highly recommended; a lovely place, Nikos is very friendly and helpful and works very hard! The room was perfect, clean, with plenty of space. The bathroom too. I was only staying one night but I was treated so well that I know where I will be heading to when I get back. The apartments are right on the beach too so you can be in the sea in minutes, or in the pool. And you are to too far away from other parts of the island, I walked down to Laki harbour in 15 minutes, for example. Perfect.
Quiet, comfort, quality and value in a lovely Dodecanese island, Leros
Whether you want a quiet holiday or to get out and about Tony’s Beach Hotel provides the perfect solution. A mixture of guests from all parts of Europe and yet no noise to threaten you peace. Good food in-house or nearbye and great “Illy” coffee to wake your morning.
A great little treasure.
Abetter position to enjoy the island of Leros would be hard to find!
The position of Tony’s Beach apartments was The Best thing about them. If you want to walk and relax and enjoy great views this is the place to be. Pandeli beach is walking distance, so too the great little villages of Platanus and Ayia Marina; the bus stops at the top of the road and takes you from the northern tip of Leros to the southern – to great beaches and tavernas. However, just around the corner and visible from the balcony is Dimitri’s taverna, with fantastic sea views and brilliant food, and the beach immediately in front of Tony’s apartments is great for morning swims and for just watching from your balcony with all the sailing boats and fishing boats sailing across the brilliant blue of the bay. Idyllic. Easy to get to from the port and not far from anything. Fabulous island and this makes a good base. Not cheap, especially in July.
Best getaway ever
I have visited Leros many times over the 12 years and believe me Tony’s is the place to stay. Although a little more expensive than neighbouring accomodation, (Rosa’s & Frango’s, which are also lovely), you cannot put a price on this beach front ideal location. The rooms are simple, clean and spacious, but the outlook is spectacular. If you want an all action packed holiday, best look elsewhere, but if you want to chill, read, people watch, swim in beautiful water, meet lovely people and eat in fantastic restuarants, this for you.
Tony is a very accomodating host, always helpful, storing materials year to year for his returning clientele. Yes people who go to Leros tend to return again and again, largely due to the magnificent warm welcome they receive each year.
The beach at Tony’s is a mixture of sand and shingle and beachshoes do help, but the sea is clear, clean and full of interest. The island is small, we tend to walk everywhere, and the only difficulty is getting up the big hill out of Vromolithos, but once you get to the top of the hill, everywhere is accessible. For those who don’t walk, Tony will get you a very reasonably priced taxi.
Restaurants on the island are great. Frango next door is excellent, while Stamatis at the Paradisos, on the hill, is the most pleasant of hosts you could imagine, complete with traditional Greek music provided by himself and his son , Manolis. The food is great but the ambience even better. Pandelli offers excellent beachside seafood tavernas and the dramatic clifftop setting of the place on the hill,(can’t recall it’s name), provides good fare also.
However, without doubt, the best food on the island is provide right next to Tony’s, by Paniotis at The Well. Honestly, it is so good that you may find difficulty leaving it to discover the island. If Paniotis was in the UK, I have no doubt he would be a chef at a major 5 star restaurant. His dishes are always, either fresh from the sea or veg from his garden, subtle tastes, well presented and absolutely delicious. It is worth going to Leros to sample his food.
Leros and Tony’s is a simple, quiet paradise. As there are no major tour operators servicing Leros, one has to really want to go there. It is well worth the effort. If you want laid back, stress free, hassle free, no football tops or union jack shorts, no lager louts, just simple pleasures, then this the place.
We have tried many different places throughout the world but always return to Leros and Tony’s.
